Samsung G600 Review

Got my G600 yesterday as soon as Phones4u got stock in Manchester. It really is a fantastic handset. I'll do a proper review soon and post photos from the camera. First impressions are that its the best camera phone around by quite a wide margin...beats the N95 for quality. Records video at 640x480. Viewfinder and auto-focus very quick. ISO sensitivity goes up to 800! Noise levels comparable to a proper compact camera.

Lovely build quality too...alluminum front and sides around the screen.

The deal I got with Phones4u took a long time to bargain for, but in the end they coughed up and did it free with ?100 BACS cash back on a 12 month ?35 Orange contract. They shouldn't really have done the ?100 BACS on a 12 month contract but since I already had a contract with them and they'd promised to 'buy it out' they coughed up. I dislike Phones4u on the whole (some very dishonest sales pitches going on these days) but unfortunately Carphone couldn't get anywhere near on price, although they did offer it on other networks such as Virgin, O2 and T-Mobile. My phone was unlocked, sim free...no branding and the ones in Carphone were the same. In the box was a bluetooth headset and 1GB card.

Only few niggles I have with the handset, is middle d-pad button goes to the web browser rather than main menu (Sony Ericsson style) and I can't seem to customise it...a return to the bad old days of the 'i' button I'm afraid! Oh and the built in games are just terrible...haven't changed since the D500! And neither does it take .jar files via Bluetooth. Time for a new "Unlocking the Box of fun thread"!
